CHAPTER TWO - SILAS
Isaac couldn't handle what was before his eyes. Was this a man? A monster? One thing he knew for sure – This was a very real threat and he needed to act, and fast. The creature continued at him with an awkward gait. “WHOO ARE YOUU” he bellowed again, this time sounding as if he was gurgling blood. Isaac drew his revolver; and at that moment, carnage ensued. A lead pipe came smashing down on the creature's head from behind splattering a thick, black ichor onto the pavement. The creature let out a horrendous howl before dropping lifeless to the ground. Isaacs nerves now finally steeled he pointed his revolver at the man stood behind the creature. “Drop the weapon and back up” Isaac commanded. “Ahh relax mate” retorted the man. “Besides, that lead spitter yer holdin won’t do ya much good here”. Isaac could feel the sincerity in the man's voice and cautiously lowered the revolver. The man revealed himself from out of the shadows. He appeared to be a tradesman of some sort, dressed in overalls and thick brown boots. He had a kind face, but one thing struck Isaac. The man's left eye was completely milk white, like that of the creatures. “Now, shall we exchange proper introductions, or are ya gonna stand there with yer maw hangin open? The name’s Silas, Pleasure to meet ya”. “Isaac...” Our clearly shaken P.I. responded. “What was that thing, and where are we?” Isaac wasted no time in prodding for answers. Silas looked at him in pure confusion. “This is Cathedral Park mate. And that fellow was one of the fine Denizens of the village...” Isaacs head was spinning. “No chance in hell this is the park” he thought. “Are there more of these things? Are they dangerous? What do we do?” Silas let out a chuckle. “Slow down mate. They can be bitey but they're slow, and stupid. There's more but no worry about that. We’ve got something a bit worse on our plates these days...” Isaacs optimism was quickly dashed, and his stomach sank. “Like what?’ he hesitantly questioned. “The Silhouettes mate.” Silas solemnly responded. “Where have ya been? Ya clearly ain’t from ‘round here. Ain’t no matter. We got a safehouse up the way. “Who’s we?” Isaac questioned. “You’ll see. Now put that lead spitter away and follow me. Quietly”. Isaac and his new acquaintance slipped into the shadows. We’ll find ya something wieldier mate” Silas whispered. “We’ll have some hell to fuckin pay if we don't. Every pair of hands needs a weapon here. You’ll find out soon enough”. Isaac thought of a hundred different places he’d rather be at the moment. But he was glad to have met Silas.
